Is there an easier way to access names from my address book when composing e-mails? is there an auto-complete feature when typing a name into the "To:" field?

Yes, there is an auto-complete feature. Simply type in a name and hit the "expand names" button and it will replace the names with the corresponding e-mail addresses. In addition, clicking the "addressbook" button in the compose window will bring up a popup with all of your saved addresses.
